Synergistic Effect in Ag/Fe–MnO2 Catalysts for Ethanol Oxidation

Here we report the synergistic effect of OMS-2 catalysts tested in ethanol oxidation, and effects produced by both addition an Fe modifier catalyst preparation stage, introduction Ag on its surface impregnation method. To analyze action each component, Fe-modified, Ag-containing with different Mn/Fe ratios were prepared. Combined XPS XRF elemental analysis confirms states distribution Ag- Fe-containing species between bulk catalysts, which form highly dispersed 0.05Fe–OMS-2, are also incorporated into crystalline lattice. The cooperative modifiers improves reoxidation ability (TPO results) amount adsorbed oxygen surface. to 0.05 Fe–OMS-2 allows a high level activity (T80 = 150–155 °C) selectivity (SAc80 93%) towards acetaldehyde formation.
